Name:
Reese (or Pen)

Star sign:
Aquarius according to some really outdated sources that forgot to tell people they need to update the sign you're born under every couple of hundreds of years... Yeah, I like science too much to believe in that sort of thing.

8-10 (If I get less than 8, you WILL know.)

Lucky Number:
When am I ever lucky?

Last thing I googled:
"cool sciencey stuff" ............. no actually it was just "undertale rp"

Favorite fictional character(s):
Sherlock Holmes (LIFETIME NUMBER ONE), Sans (Undertale), Sokka (AtLA), Zuko (AtLA), Azula (AtLA), Papyrus (Undertale), the 10th/4th Doctors, Allen Walker (DGM), Lavi/Rabi (DGM), Ciel Phantomhive (Kuroshitsuji), Sebastian Michaelis (Kuroshitsuji), Grell (Kuroshitsuji)

I'm finally starting to sense a theme in my favorites. I like sarcastic smart people and crazy weirdos.

Original stories in comic or written formats... or more popularly, fanart of whatever I'm currently obsessed with.

Personal Tumblr: penholmes
Undertale Related Tumblr: penundertale
Then there's a few others but I won't post them here.

Do you get a lot of comments?:
Nope.

Why did you choose this username?:
It's a character I made up when I was 12 or 13 and have a strong fondness for even to this day. He's... surprise... a sarcastic and quick witted dumb genius type.

I'm a novelist! A novelist! I finished a whole novel! For those who've recently met me, or who haven't seen me for a while, the book is called The Universe of Pen: An Improbably Fun Journey. If I get requests to post the entire story here, I will do so. However, I do have all chapters available here, on my WritersCafe account.

It's really short, only a little over 40k; however it's meant to be accessible to ages thirteen and up, young adult reading that is also continues to give to those who return as adults (or come into it as adults), similarly to the Sherlock Holmes books. The genre is Literary (focusing on characters, interpersonal relationships, personal growth), Light Sci-Fi with a dash of Fantasy and a whole bucket load of exploration type adventure. Cursing, romance and violence is quite minimal, (unlike my other project, oHoly Hello). However, like almost all of my stories, there will be some girl-power (but no puke inducing "I ain't need no man but still get a man at the end because turns out I do" crap or "I'm a cold dominatrix" crap, poorly written feminism, etc.). Actually I'm extremely proud of my characters. They're all really fleshed out, and for once it's not a sausage fest of effeminate men (not that there's anything wrong with that).

And speaking of all of my stories, of course LGBTQA all make an appearance in both prominent and side character roles, but thus far only subtly (except for one character. Go ahead and guess). It's been pretty subtle because romance/sex doesn't play a huge role, and I don't know if it ever will. I'd prefer to leave that to the fanfiction writers, who will surely ship all sorts of character combinations. lol But in all seriousness, though pre-established, the sexualities and genders of the characters may not end up spotlighted for some time, or at all. It's more in the background, unlike in other works I've written (like oHoly Hello and even Ultima Esperanza).

After writing the second draft of The Universe of Pen, I'll begin writing short stories for it that continue the series. They'll vary in size depending on the adventure (1-9 chapters a story), and I'll be taking requests. If I accept your idea, I'll credit the prompt to you in my dedications page of that particular story. Unfortunately, the idea can't contain specific original content, like your OC or world or species because I don't want to use someone else's intellectual property. But if you have a general request for an adventure, like say, "I want the main character attacked by brain slugs that stop him from understanding language", or "I want so-and-so and such-and-such to have a fight and learn to compromise", I'd be glad to hear it.

Anyway, let me know what you think!

*****EDIT: Read Chapter 15 now!
Those who are reading The Universe of Pen: An Improbably Fun Journey should know that I have posted NEW CHAPTERS on a writer's website called WritersCafe.org! It's free to join, filled with great writers and immensely easier to submit books to than dA. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes you all, but I'm simply dissatisfied with the ass backwards way dA handles writers and their work. Yes, I will still be posting art to dA and yes I will link to each new writing update here as well.

However, feel free to join WritersCafe, as it is again, completely free, and you don't need to be a writer. This site is in dire need of more reviewers, so if you simply love to read the latest upcoming authors for free and are opinionated, you'd be more than welcome.

NYC Comic Con

2 min read
As I have internet right now, I figured what better time to update you on what's going on. I've been rewriting the world that my epic tales exist within, currently aiming for a mythologically inspired high fantasy with a rich plethora of fictional cultures in a near surreal, beautiful and harsh dreamlike world, rather than the previous, which was our modern world tied with fantasy otherworlds.

The main reason for this is having grown to the point I couldn't help realizing that ignoring the background and setting until it is inserted merely as an afterthought has been holding back the story and its potential. There's something belief-shattering about placing a fantastic character like Lucifer or Manuel Mishonu in the mundane world. For one thing, I can't imagine these kinds of characters interacting with it without changing it drastically in the first place.

And so, I've filled up at least half a sketchbook now with design ideas and notes and have completed a 40 page roughdraft of RPG rules and universal settings, tying in the good ideas and screening out the lazy ones. Also, with this move, I've finally begun to conquer my fear/disinterest of making backgrounds/settings/animals/not-people-floating-in-space.

Also, went to NYC Comic Con and I pity all who weren't there! I met so many wonderful artists and got to geek out about critiques, techniques, and strong love for the medium. I feel positively reinvigorated. Plus, I got this killer David Tennant as the Doctor T-shirt! Almost got a "I really am ruggedly handsome" shirt instead, but too many damned people with good taste got there before me!

Anyway, gonna be looking up and hooking up with some of the wonderful artists I've had the pleasure to meet, as soon as my body stops wanting to sleep indefinitely. Hey, maybe I'll have the time to introduce you to them too! That'd be awesome. See you then!
